Introduction
The pump control valve on the implement/steering pumps can have issues with the spring guides in the load sensing valves. This can cause the load sensing spool to bind in operation which can reduce pump performance.
Replace the 248-1348 Control Valve Gp on the implement/steering pump. Refer to the following rework procedure.

(1) Implement/steering pump (2) 248-1348 Control Valve Gp (3) Adjustment plug (4) Set screw |
- Pull a vacuum on the hydraulic tank in order to minimize loss of oil.
- Disconnect the load sensing hose at control valve (2) on the implement/steering pump. Cap the hose. The valve is mounted on the side of the pump (1). Remove the hydraulic connector fitting from the pump control valve (2). Retain the parts for reassembly.
- Remove the pump control valve from the pump by loosening and removing the four mounting screws.
- Assemble the hydraulic connector fitting to port X on the replacement pump control valve. Torque to 20 N·m (14 lb ft)
- Ensure that the four seals at the bottom of the pump control valve are securely in place. Use the four supplied screws in order to assemble the valve to the pump. Torque the screws to 6.5 N·m (5 lb ft).
- Reassemble load sensing hose to hydraulic connector fitting on the pump control valve. Torque to 25 N·m (18 lb ft)
- Refer to the Testing and Adjusting manual for your machine in order to set margin pressure.
Note: The system pressure is set at the implement valve. The high pressure cutoff is factory set and the high pressure cutoff should not be adjusted. Any attempt to adjust the high pressure cutoff may result in a valve or pump failure.
Note: Be sure to loosen side mounted setscrew (4) before turning adjustment plug (3) for the margin pressure. After the adjustment is complete, tighten the set screw to 7.5 N·m to 10.8 N·m (5.5 lb ft to 8.0 lb ft).
