Description of Change: The adjustment plug for the margin pressure has been improved. The machining of the plug has been refined in order to reduce the possibility of oil leaks at the pump control valve.
Adaptable To: The effectivity and the adaptability of the improved 307-3049 Adjustment Plug are listed in Table 1.

Replacing the Adjustment Plug for the Margin Pressure
- Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Hydraulic Pump - Test and Adjust".
- Pull a vacuum on the hydraulic tank in order to minimize loss of hydraulic oil.
- Locate the pump control valve (1) on the pump. Loosen setscrew (2). See Illustration 1.

- Note the installed depth of the adjustment plug (3) for the margin pressure inside the pump control valve. This will be helpful in order to minimize the amount of adjustment that is needed after installing the replacement adjustment plug.
- Remove adjustment plug (3) for the margin pressure. Ensure that the springs and the internal components remain in place inside the valve.
- Install the replacement plug into the pump control valve. Ensure that the O-ring seal and the backup ring are in place on the plug before you install the plug. Screw the plug into the pump control valve to the installed depth of the former plug.
- Set the margin pressure. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Hydraulic Pump - Test and Adjust".
Note: The system pressure is set at the implement valve. The high pressure cutoff is factory set and the high pressure cutoff should not be adjusted. Any attempt to adjust the high pressure cutoff may result in a valve or pump failure.
When you have completed the adjustments, hold adjustment plug (3) in position and tighten set screw (2) to a torque of 9.15 ± 1.65 N·m (6.75 ± 1.2 lb ft).
Note: Do not overtighten the set screw.
