Introduction

This Special Instruction contains directions for updating and configuring the machine software. The D6K implement valves are now assembled with new actuator groups. The machine software must be configured in order to recognize the solenoids.

Do not perform any procedure that is outlined in this publication, or order any parts, until you have read the information and you understand the information.

Procedure

If a new actuator group is installed onto the implement valves, the following procedures must be performed:

  1. Flash the latest machine software. Use 329-7019 Machine Software Gp or higher.

  1. Change the solenoid type in Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET). In order to change the solenoid type in Cat (ET), version "2008B V1.0" or higher must be used.

Change The Setting For The Solenoid

  1. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.

  1. Use a communication adapter to connect a computer to the service connector. Use the latest version of Cat (ET).

  1. Turn the ignition key to the ON position.

  1. Start Cat ET.

  1. Start Cat ET.

  1. Select "Machine Control" on "ECM Selector" screen and click "OK".

  1. Select "Service", "Calibration", and the "Implement Valve Solenoid Calibration (Visual)".

  1. Follow the instructions in order to calibrate the solenoids.

Note: If your machine is equipped with Accugrade, then the Accugrade system must be recalibrated. Accugrade calibration is not required if the actuator groups for the ripper and for the blade have been updated.
