Hydraulic Accumulator (Boom, Hook) - Disassemble

Start By:

  1. Remove the hydraulic accumulator (boom, hook).

------ WARNING! ------

The accumulator is filled with dry nitrogen. Sudden release of nitrogen pressure can cause personal injury.

To avoid personal injury, release the nitrogen pressure from the accumulator before disassembly.


  1. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS5464, "Accumulator Discharging and Charging Procedures" for the correct procedure to release the nitrogen from the accumulator.

  2. Remove bolts (2) and gas valve protector (3) from hydraulic accumulator (boom, hook) (1).

  3. Remove accumulator charging valve (4) and the O-ring seal.

  4. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable holding device to secure hydraulic accumulator (boom, hook) (1). Use Tooling (B) to remove end cap (5).

  5. Note the orientation of fitting (6) with hydraulic accumulator (boom, hook) (1) for assembly purposes. Remove fitting (6).

  6. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable holding device to secure hydraulic accumulator (boom, hook) (1). Use Tooling (B) to remove end cap (7).

  7. Remove O-ring seal (8) from end cap (5).

  8. Remove piston (9) from the hydraulic accumulator (boom, hook).

  9. Remove O-ring seal (10) and O-ring seals (11) from piston (9).

  10. Remove O-ring seal (12) from end cap (7).
