New Seal Used In Alternator Mounting Group{1405,1400}

Usage:

3500 Series Engines Equipped With Alternators

Description of Change: A new seal is used in the alternator mounting group used on the above engines. Heat could cause the lip on the former seal to become hard and allow oil to leak out of the accessory drive. The new seal has a different material that resists heat better. This will provide improved sealing and service life.

Adaptable As: The new 6V8172 Seal is a direct replacement for the former 1D4327 Seal in the 7N7980 Alternator Mounting Group. See the illustration. At installation, put a small amount of engine oil on the lip of the new seal.
