Fill Oil Sump Before Installing Woodward Governor{1264,1288,1289}

Usage:

3300 And 3400 Series Marine, Industrial And Generator Set Engines Equipped With Woodward PSG Governors Or EG3P Actuators

Illustration 1. Woodward governor drive group on 3304, 3306 and 3406 Engines.

Illustration 2. Woodward governor drive group on 3408 and 3412 Engines.

If a Woodward governor or actuator is to be used as shown above, the governor oil sump should be filled before installation. Engine oil is supplied to the governor oil sump through an orifice in the drive group or the injection pump. To make sure there is adequate lubrication at initial engine start-up, the sump must be filled with oil before the governor or actuator is installed on the engine.

To fill the oil sump on 3304, 3306 and 3406 Engines, pour approximately one pint of engine oil into the governor drive opening (see Illustration 1). On 3408 and 3412 Engines, use a small funnel to pour the oil into the oil supply hole located in the injection pump housing (see Illustration 2).
