Rear Power Take-Off Clutch Can Use Nonmetallic Plates And Grease Lubrication For Main Bearings{3055,3305}

Usage:

3208 Industrial Engines

Reference: Service Magazine, February 14, 1983, Page 4, "New Clutches For Rear Power Take-Off".

The 2N1374 (Twin Disc SP211) Rear Power Take-Off (PTO) Clutch Group used on earlier 3208 Industrial Engines, can be changed to use nonmetallic clutch plates. The 3N7952 Nonmetallic Clutch Plates can be used to replace the 7S7934 Sintered Iron Clutch Plates. The nonmetallic clutch plates give improved service life. When a nonmetallic clutch plate is installed, inspect the clutch discs and drive ring. If the drive ring is worn or damaged it must be replaced.

In some applications, it may be desirable to change the 2N1373 Clutch Assembly from oil lubrication to grease lubrication. The grease lubrication conversion is given in Special Instruction Form SMHS8189. See the illustration for the dimensions of the fabricated labyrinth seals needed. Two labyrinth seals, fabricated from mild steel, will be needed for each clutch.

Fabricated labyrinth seal.
