Some 153-3565 Valve Mechanism Covers may have porosity and burrs that may cause oil leaks from the O-Ring of the breather. If the O-Ring is leaking, visually inspect the bore on the valve cover for porosity (1). If porosity exists, the valve cover must be replaced or the O-Ring seal might leak again. If the chamfer of the bore on the valve cover has burrs, deburr the valve cover prior to assembling the breather and the O-Ring seal. Clean the valve cover prior to assembling the breather and the O-Ring seal in order to prevent debris from getting into the engine. The O-Ring should be lubricated with clean engine oil for assembly. New 272-2583 O-Ring Seal is available to replace the 6V-5100 O-Ring Seal. The 272-2583 O-Ring Seal has a blue Teflon coating which will reduce twisting of the O-Ring and rolling of the O-Ring during assembly.
