Air Shutoff - Remove and Install

Usage:

C4.4 MMC

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the air inlet manifold. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Inlet Manifold - Remove and Install".


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.

    Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.

    Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.


  1. Reposition the shaft for air shutoff in order to access bolts (1). Remove bolts (1) and plate (2).

  2. Reposition the shaft for air shutoff (3) and remove the shaft for air shutoff (3) from air inlet manifold (4).

  3. Remove seal (5) and bushings (6) from the air inlet manifold.

  1. Use Tooling (A) to install bushings (6) and seal (5) in the air inlet manifold.

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.

    To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.


  2. Install the shaft for air shutoff (3) in air inlet manifold (4).

  3. Apply Tooling (B) to bolts (1). Reposition the shaft for air shutoff in order to install plate (2). Position plate (2) and install bolts (1).

End By:

  1. Install the air inlet manifold. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Inlet Manifold - Remove and Install".
