Engine Oil Pump - Install

Installation Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

If any of the parts on the engine oil pump are worn or damaged, the entire pump must be replaced.

  1. Install engine oil pump (9). Install bolts (8). Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  2. Fill engine oil pump (9) with clean engine oil.

  3. Position engine oil pump assembly (2) against the cylinder block. Ensure that dowel pin (10) and hollow dowel (11) are correctly located in the cylinder block.

  4. Install bolts (1). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 44 N·m (32 lb ft).

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.

    To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.


  5. Clean spring (6) and plunger (7) of the engine oil relief valve. Lubricate spring (6) and plunger (7) with clean engine oil.

  6. Install plunger (7), spring (6), and plug (5) in engine oil pump assembly (2). Tighten plug (5) to a torque of 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  7. Position suction pipe (4) and install bolts (3).

End By:

  1. Install the oil pan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pan - Remove and Install".
