The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects all of the following conditions:
- The engine has been running for at least 10 seconds after engine speed is within 50 rpm of low idle.
- Engine oil pressure is below the trip line in Illustration 1 for 2 seconds.
- 100-03 "Engine Oil Pressure open/short to +batt" is not active.
- 100-04 "Engine Oil Pressure short to ground" is not active.

System Response:
The event is logged. The ECM derates the value for the full torque setting of the engine by 15 percent.
Possible Performance Effect:
- Low power
Troubleshooting:
- There may be a problem with the engine lubrication system.
- There may be a problem with the engine oil pressure sensor.
Test Step 1. Check for Diagnostic Codes.
- Connect the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to the service tool connector.
- Turn the keyswitch to the ON position.
- Check for any active diagnostic codes or logged diagnostic codes.
Expected Result:
No diagnostic codes are present.
Results:
- OK - No diagnostic codes are present. Proceed to Test Step 2.
- Not OK - Diagnostic codes are present.
Repair: Repair the diagnostic codes that are present. Refer to the appropriate topic in the "Troubleshooting With a Diagnostic Code" section of this manual. Ensure that the repair eliminates the problem.

Test Step 2. Perform a Check of the Engine Lubrication System.
- Perform a check of the engine lubrication system. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Low Engine Oil Pressure".
Expected Result:
There are no problems with engine oil pressure.
Results:
- OK - There are no problems with engine oil pressure. There may be an intermittent problem.
Repair: Monitor the operation of the engine. Repair the problem. Ensure that the repair eliminates the problem.
STOP
- Not OK - There are problems with engine oil pressure.
Repair: Repair the problem. Ensure that the repair eliminates the problem.
