Cylinders equipped with lock valves can remain pressurized for very long periods of time, even with the hoses removed.

Failure to relieve pressure before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder can result in personal injury or death.

Ensure all pressure is relieved before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


Start By:

  1. Remove the quick coupler lock.

  1. Release the system hydraulic pressure.

  2. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to quick coupler (1). Refer to the Table 2 for combined weight of quick coupler (1) and the swivel. Place quick coupler (1) along with the swivel on a suitable cribbing as shown in illustration 2.

  3. Disconnect harness assembly (2). Disconnect hose assemblies (5) and (4) from cylinder (3).

    Note: Mark position of cylinder (3) for installation purposes before removal.

  4. Remove bolts (6) and cylinder (3).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install cylinder (3) in the reverse order of the removal.

    1. Tighten bolt (6) to a torque of 120 ± 12 N·m (89 ± 9 lb ft).
