Swivel - Remove and Install - Quick Coupler S-Type

Start By:

Remove the hydraulic rotator.

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the removal procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat^® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to quick coupler (1). Refer to the Table 2 for combined weight of quick coupler (1) and the swivel. Place quick coupler (1) along with the swivel on a suitable cribbing as shown in illustration 1.

Disconnect harness assembly (2). Remove the bolts and plate (3).

Remove the screw and rubber rod (4).
Not needed for quick coupler with double cylinder design.

Note: Mark position of swivel (8) before removal for installation purposes .
Place quick coupler (1) in a horizontal position as shown in illustration 6.
Remove two screws (6) affixing electric swivel (5) and remove electric swivel (5) .
Remove six bolts (7) from swivel (8).
Remove swivel (8).

Remove O-ring seals (9) and dowel pins (10).

Installation Procedure

Install swivel (8) in the reverse order of the removal.
1. Install swivel (8) properly on dowel pins (10) and position swivel (8) regarding to quick coupler (1) as shown in the illustration 8.
2. Lubricate O-ring seals (9) with grease.
3. Tighten bolts (7) to a torque of 60 N·m (44 lb ft).
