Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

For service purposes the front glass wiper arm can be folded down away from the front glass and placed on the maintenance platform.

If the wiper arm is not returned to the operation position, the wiper motor shaft and/or wiper arm can be damaged during machine articulation.

The wiper arm can get caught between the maintenance platform and lift arms, damaging the wiper motor shaft and wiper arms.

Solution

Caterpillar is aware of this problem, and an interim repair has been defined. Replace the broken part with the same part number.

To avoid damage after maintenance, always return the front glass wiper arm to the operating position against the front glass.
