ReferenceUndercarriage Reconditioning Bulletin, REHS2586, "Field Service for Positive Pin Retention 2 (PPR2)" for information regarding the tooling and the procedures that are required to service Positive Pin Retention 2 (PPR2) track.

Description of Change: Positive Pin Retention 2 (PPR2) track link assemblies are now used on certain 324D Forest Machines listed above. The PPR2 design resists pin movement and end play. Keeping each pin in the correct position increases internal wear life by maintaining proper seal face load against the bushing for a longer time. It should also be noted that longer rollers frames are also part of the engineering change so the improved track link assemblies are longer than the former track link assemblies. Additionally, PPR2 track link assemblies are recommended for machines operating on slopes, uneven terrain, and rough underfoot conditions.

Adaptable To: The 389-6862 Track Link As replaces the former 213-1932 Track Link As. The 389-6862 Track Link As is 51 sections in length. The former 213-1932 Track Link As is 48 sections in length. In order to adapt the improved PPR2 track link assembly, you will have to shorten the track link assembly by three sections. Refer to Table 1 for the effectivity and adaptability of the new 389-6862 Track Link As.
