Procedure to Install Heated and Insulated Fumes Disposal Hoses and Open Crankcase Ventilation (OCV) Canister Components on Certain 349 Excavators{1074}

Introduction

This Special Instruction contains the parts list and procedure for installing the heated and insulated fumes disposal hoses and OCV canister components on the listed machine. Do not attempt any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read and understood this document information.

Installation Procedure

    (A) Bottom Covers

  1. Begin by removing the covers in red on the bottom of the machine and open the engine compartment door on top of the machine.

    (1) 444-1954 Tube As

    (2) OCV Canister

    (3) 444-1955 Tube As

  1. Remove the OCV canister (2), upper Tube As (1), and lower Tube As (3). The oil drain line can remain in place. Also remove the P clip securing the lower fumes tube to the engine block.

  1. Feed the new 444-1955 Tube As into the same position and location as the non-insulated fumes tube that was removed in Step 2. Also install the new 3P-9847 Clip to secure the 444-1955 Tube As .

  1. Install the 444-1954 Tube As to the breather assembly on the valve cover.

  1. Install the OCV canister to the bracket and install 445-7995 Insulation As , 445-8008 Insulation As , and 445-8004 Insulation As .

  1. Install the 451-1946 Heater Harness As by connecting the 126-1766 Connector Socket in position 120 of C-C1. (Connection to Cab)

  1. Route the harness from the connection to the cab following the main chassis harness securing the harness in all available locations with a cable strap.

  1. Continue to route the harness along the main chassis harness into the engine compartment. Secure harness in available locations with a cable strap. Connect the 131-1506 Terminal As to machine ground.

    155-2269 Connector Plug As (Connect To OCV Heater)

  1. Continue to route the harness along the engine compartment main chassis harness to the heated fumes tube connectors and connect. Secure the harness in available locations with a cable strap.

  1. Install the 451-1948 Wiring Harness by connecting the 144-1636 Connector Pin in position 120 of F-C40. (Connection to Cab)

  1. Install the 7Y-3966 Terminal As to fuse 26. (Connect to F-C28)

  1. Install the 238-2363 Terminal to fuse 22 in position 5 of F-C44.

  1. Install the bottom covers back to the machine. Route the bottom of 444-1955 Tube As through the cut out hole in the bottom cover.
