NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Check the condition of the hydraulic oil cooler prior to installation. Remove any dirt or debris that may restrict the flow of air through the core. If any of the cooling fins are bent, the fins should be straightened prior to the installation of the hydraulic oil cooler.

  1. Fasten Tooling (A) to hydraulic oil cooler (5). Fasten a suitable lifting device to Tooling (A) .

  1. Carefully position hydraulic oil cooler (5) . The weight of the hydraulic oil cooler is 68 kg (150 lb).

  1. Install the four washers and four bolts (3) that hold hydraulic oil cooler (5) in position.

  1. Check the condition of the O-ring seals in the ends of hose assemblies (4). If the O-ring seals are broken or damaged, use a new part for replacement.

  1. Connect two hose assemblies (4) .

  1. Position refrigerant condenser (2) .

  1. Install the four washers and four bolts (1) .

  1. Remove the ecology drain valve from the hydraulic oil tank. Fill the hydraulic oil tank to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct procedure to fill the hydraulic oil tank.

End By: Install the hood. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hood - Remove and Install" in this manual.
