- Install drain tube (33) in the swing drive housing.
- Use the following procedure to install carrier assembly (17) .
- Install retainer (24) in the carrier, as shown.
- Apply clean SAE 30 oil on bearing (23). Install the bearing in planetary gear (21) .
- Install a thrust washer (22) on each side of the planetary gear. Install the planetary gear and thrust washers in the carrier. Install planetary shaft (19) in the carrier and through the planetary gear (21). Be sure that the spring pin hole in the planetary shaft is aligned with the spring pin hole in the carrier.
- Install spring pin (20) in the carrier and into the planetary shaft. Install the spring pin until the spring pin is just below the outside surface of the carrier. Install the spring pin with the split in the spring pin toward the top or bottom of the carrier.
- Make a stake mark on each side of the spring pin hole in the carrier. Stake marks keep the spring pin from falling out. Each stake mark should be approximately 1.5 mm (.06 inch) from the spring pin hole.

- Use the following procedure to determine the correct rolling torque of the pinion shaft.
- Temporarily install bolt (12). Tighten the bolt to a torque of 315 ± 20 N·m (230 ± 15 lb ft).
- Use bolt (12) to slowly turn the pinion shaft with a suitable torque wrench. Record the reading as the pinion shaft is being turned. The correct rolling torque of the pinion shaft must be 6.03 ± 2.59 N·m (53 ± 23 lb in).
- Remove bolt (12), and separate the pinion shaft from the swing drive housing. Change spacers (25) and (26), as required. Change spacers (25) and (26) in order to obtain the correct rolling torque of the pinion shaft.
- Reinstall the pinion shaft in the swing drive housing. Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound on the threads of bolt (12). Install bolt (12). Tighten the bolt to a torque of 315 ± 20 N·m (230 ± 15 lb ft).

Note: Spacers (25) and (26) control the amount of rolling torque of the pinion shaft.
- Install O-ring seal (13) in the swing drive housing.
- Apply 5P-3413 Pipe Sealant in the bore of cage (15) in the place for lip type seal (16). Use Tooling (C) to install lip type seal (16) in cage (15). Install the seal until the seal makes contact with the counterbore in the cage. Apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease on the lip of the seal.
