SUBJECT: THE STICK CYLINDER MAY LEAK HYDRAULIC FLUID ON CERTAIN
EXCAVATORS

PROBLEM:

Hydraulic fluid may leak from the hydraulic cylinder for the stick. The leaks occur on the rod assembly at the head end of the hydraulic cylinder.

SOLUTION:

If hydraulic fluid leaks from the 191-5551 Stick Cylinder Gp, replace the former 204-2848 U-Cup Seal with a new 191-5646 U-Cup Seal. The new seal is made from a material that is softer than the former seal. The new seal is available in the new 231-6844 Seal Kit. The new and the former components are listed in Table 1. The location of the new seal is shown in Illustration 1.
