SUBJECT: Valve Bonnets with Insufficient Hardness

PROBLEM:

Some 108-2102 valve bonnets may crack due to a lack of sufficient hardness. The lack of hardness is caused by an insufficient heat treatment to the valve bonnets. Parts received through the parts system between February 17, 2004 and March 15, 2004 are suspect. The defective bonnets are matte silver in color. Bonnets with sufficient hardness are dull grey/black in color. The following dealers received parts from the parts system during the above time period.
