SUBJECT: Incorrect operation of the two-way auxiliary control lever on certain 301.5, 301.6, 301.8 and 302.5 Mini-Hydraulic Excavators.

PROBLEM:

The operation of the two-way auxiliary valve contradicts the machine labeling on certain 301.5, 301.6, 301.8 and 302.5 Mini-Hydraulic Excavators. The system delivers single direction flow when the lever is in the two directional flow position and visa versa.

SOLUTION:

The 232-6118 valve assembly can be reworked using the following procedure,

  1. Access 232-6118 valve assembly from the underside of machine.
  2. Remove handle and lock ring from valve spindle.
  3. Turn spindle to the position shown in illustration 1, note orientation of cut.
  4. Remove stopper plate and rotate spindle counterclockwise through 90 degrees.
  5. Reinstall stopper plate as shown in illustration 2.
  6. Reinstall lock ring and handle.
  7. Check valve for correct operation.
