SUBJECT: THE HYDRAULIC CYLINDERS MAY LEAK HYDRAULIC FLUID ON
CERTAIN EXCAVATORS

PROBLEM:

Hydraulic fluid may leak from the hydraulic cylinders for the stick, for the boom, and for the bucket. The leaks occur on the rod assembly at the head end of the hydraulic cylinder.

SOLUTION:

If hydraulic fluid leaks from the hydraulic cylinders, replace the former u-cup seals with the new u-cup seals. The new seals are made from a material that is softer than the former seals. The new seals are available in the new seal kits. The new and the former components are listed in the table. The location of the new seals is shown in Illustration 1.
