Correct Orientation Of The Hub Of The KTR Coupling Caterpillar

Correct Orientation Of The Hub Of The KTR Coupling

Usage:

EXCAVATOR375 (8XG, 8WJ, 6NK),
375 L (6RL, 9WL, 1JM),
5080 (6XK, 8SL) EXCAVATORS

Problem:

Failure to orient the hub of the KTR coupling correctly can cause interference with the pump shaft and the flywheel. This may cause the pump shaft to fail. This problem has occurred when the pump coupling was changed from plastic blocks to the KTR coupling.

Solution:

When installing the KTR coupling, special attention must be given to the orientation of the hub of the coupling. An 11mm (0.43 in) gap must exist. Please see Illustration 1 on the next page for correct orientation of the hub. Torque the bolt of the hub to 580 N·m ± 60N·m (427.47 lb-ft ± 44.25 lb-ft)
