SUBJECT: MODIFICATION TO THE RADIATOR GROUP IMPROVES ACCESS IN
ORDER TO REMOVE DEBRIS

PROBLEM:

The flow of air through the radiator can become obstructed in extremely dusty operating conditions. The radiator must be removed from the machine in order to clean and restore the air circulation through the radiator core. The procedure for the removal of the radiator is difficult and time consuming.

SOLUTION:

A modification to the radiator group will improve access for removal of the radiator. The modification will also reduce the amount of time needed for radiator removal in order to remove debris. The modification procedure that follows will describe the necessary steps for improving access to the radiator group.

  1. Remove the radiator group from the machine.
  2. Disassemble the 118-9955 Frame Assembly from the radiator group. Remove eight bolts and both bracket assemblies from the 118-9953 Radiator Core Assembly. Illustration 1 shows a typical bracket assembly configuration.
  3. Straighten the top portion of the bracket assembly as shown in Illustration 2.

  5. Rework the mounting holes in the bracket assembly to the slots as shown in Illustration 2.
  6. Fabricate the four spacers to the dimensions shown in Illustration 3.
  7. Assemble the four spacers between the bracket assembly and the radiator core. Use the four new 7X-2537 bolts.

Completion of the modification will allow the radiator to be lifted vertically from the machine after the eight 8T-4200 Bolts and the four 8T-4192 bolts are removed.
