Operation Of 119-1733 And 134-1346 12-Volt Converters Caterpillar

Operation Of 119-1733 And 134-1346 12-Volt Converters

Usage:

GENERALALL 24 VOLT MACHINES EQUIPPED WITH 12 VOLT RADIOS

Problem:

Some 12-volt converters have been erroneously replaced. The specific complaint has been that the output voltage from the converter is too high (24 volts to 28 volts) when the radio is not connected to the converter and the keyswitch is turned to the "ON" position.

Solution:

The output voltage from the converter should only be checked under the following conditions: the radio is connected to the converter, the keyswitch is turned to the "ON" position, and the radio is turned "ON". When there is no electrical load connected to the converter, it is normal for the converter output voltage to measure between 11 volts and 28 volts. When the radio is turned on, the output voltage from the converter should measure between 11 volts and 14.5 volts.
