Replacing The Damper Assembly On The Engine Crankshaft Caterpillar

Replacing The Damper Assembly On The Engine Crankshaft

Usage:

EXCAVATORS330 B L (6DR) EXCAVATORS

Problem:

The damper assembly on the engine crankshaft may not exhibit desirable service life on certain Excavators. Typical symptoms reported include: excessive run out, rubber separation, out of alignment, and bonding agent loosening.

Solution:

When the replacement of the 4W-2446 Damper Assembly is necessary, replace it with a new 167-8123 Damper Assembly. Retain and reuse the 0S-1587 Bolts from the 4W-2446 Damper Assembly. Add one 5P-8245 Hard Washer to each of the six bolts when the new damper is assembled to the crankshaft. The new damper assembly has demonstrated improved durability in other engine applications.
