Monitor Panel Display Remains In The Self-Test Mode Caterpillar

Monitor Panel Display Remains In The Self-Test Mode

Usage:

EXCAVATORSM312 (6TL),
M315 (7ML),
M318 (8AL, 6ES, 8SS),
M320 (6WL, 9PS) EXCAVTORS

Problem:

The heat that is created by the internal components of the monitor panel may cause one specific capacitor to fail. The capacitor that controls the monitor self-test circuit is especially susceptible to a heat related failure. When that capacitor fails, the monitor panel display remains in the self-test mode (i.e.: all lights and alarm buzzer turned ON) as long as the key switch is ON or the engine is operating.

Solution:

The capacitor that controls the self-test circuit is not a serviceable component. If the monitor panel continuously remains in the self-test mode, install a new 175-7206 Electronic Board Assembly in the 175-7204 Operator Monitor Group.
