The soft canopy roof group needs to be reworked on certain 303E, 303ECR, 303.5ECR, 303.5E2CR, 304ECR, 304E2CR, 305ECR, 305E2CR, 305.5ECR, and 305.5E2CR Mini Hydraulic Excavators. The existing soft canopy roof bolts can become loose during machine operation or transportation of the machine on a truck. If the bolts are loose, the soft canopy roof may fall off during machine operation or transportation.

Rework Procedure

1. Remove two 8T-4191 Bolts and two 8T-4121 Washers which are installed on the canopy. Retain two bolts and washers. Two of them will be used on later in this Rework Procedure. Refer to Image1.1.1.

2. Remove paint on the four nut contact surfaces of the roof, if there is paint on the surface of nut. Clean up the surfaces of the nuts. Refer to Image1.2.1.

3. Remove paint on the surface of the canopy frame where there is contact with washers and the roof nuts. Clean up around the surface of the canopy.A 25mm diameter no painting area is required for each tightening contact area (same centered with bolt hole). If bracket is smaller than the 25mm circle, remove the entire are of paint in the circle and bracket outline. Refer to Image1.3.1 and 1.3.2.

Note: Touch up paint is allowed when required no painting area is protected.

Note: Apply Step 4 and 5 for the Group 1 only.
Note: Apply Step 6 and 7 for the Group 2 only.

Group 1 Machines Only:

4. Install two 8T-4136 Bolts and two 7X-7729 Washers to the front side of a canopy. Tighten the bolts to a specified torque of 44 +/- 7 N.m. Refer to Image1.5.1.

Note: If the machine uses 8T-4136 and 7X-7729 already, it is not needed to change the bolts and washers.

5. Install the two 8T-4191 Bolts and two 8T-4121 Washers, that were removed from the machine in Step 1, to the rear side of a canopy. Tighten the bolts to a specified torque of 44 +/- 7 N.m. Refer to Image1.6.1.

Group 2 Machines Only:

6. Install two 8T-4191 Bolts and two 8T-4121 Washers, that were removed from the machine in Step 1, to the front side of a canopy. Tighten the bolts to a specified torque of 44 +/- 7 N.m. Refer to Image1.7.1.
