| The sensor inside the position sensing cylinder is only accessible by removing the cylinder rod. Instructions for removing and replacing the sensor inside a clevis style position sensing cylinder can be referenced in Tool Operating Manual, NEHS0935. The sensor part number does not come with the magnetic ring, 3 pin deutsch connector, wire protection sleeve, sensor O-ring, or set screw. Replacing the magnetic ring on the cylinder rod is not necessary unless it is damaged. The product support program includes the 3 pin deutsch connector, wire protection sleeve, sensor O-ring and the set screw. Care should be used when installing the new sensor using NEHS0935 that the following do not happen: - That the new sensor part rod is perfectly straight and not bent in the installation process - That the new sensor base is properly keyed into the cylinder so the sensor rod is in the center of the cylinder cavity - That the sensor lead wires are not damaged when drawing them through the access hole - That the sensor base O-ring is lubricated and slides into the cylinder easily - That the sensor is fully seated and the set screw properly torqued. - That the sensor manufacture date is after WWYY = 1415 Refer to Service Magazine, M0064490, "Improved Quality Control Process With Class II and Class III Position Sensing Cylinder Sensor", for information on finding the date code on the sensor. When the cylinder with the new sensor is replaced on the machine, a new Front Linkage Position Sensor Calibration should be completed to reset the cylinder sensor. If the values from the Front Linkage Position Sensor Calibration that populated Location #1 in the Boom Sensor Table or the Stick Sensor Table are close to the populated values in Location #2-5, no further action is necessary. If the values in Location #1 on the Boom Sensor Table or Stick Sensor Table vary significantly from the other values in Locations #2-5, then deleting the values in Location #1 and adding a new individual calibration for that sensor may be required for the highest level of system accuracy. After re-calibrating the system, check the elevation accuracy of the Cat Grade Control system. |
