PROBLEM
The cam plate of the travel motor may interfere with the snap ring due to inadequate clearance on certain 325C and 330C Excavators. Replace the cam plate with the correct cam plate.AFFECTED PRODUCT

MODELS INVOLVED - 330C EXCAVATORS
Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
A new cam plate for the travel motor needs to be installed on the products listed below. The incorrect cam plate may have been installed during manufacturing. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated January 8, 2006 when scheduling this service.
We regret the inconvenience this may cause you, but urge you to have this service performed as soon as possible to prevent unscheduled downtime.

Rework Procedure

- Disassemble the head by loosening the 8 bolts.
- Move the 2 seal-o-rings from the end face of the body.
- Remove 20 124-1561 Springs for the spring brake.
- Move the piston brake.
- Remove the 167-3859 cam plate and 167-3855 shaft from the body at same time.
- Check for contamination inside the body.
- Replace the 4K-4284 Retaining Ring on the shaft.
- Check the position of the 167-3857 and 167-3858 Keys when you install the cam plate. Apply new hydraulic oil on the face of the cam plate.
- Verify the piston moves smoothly in the barrel.

NOTE: Insert the bolt into the hole on
the piston brake. Then pull out the piston brake from the body.

plate and ring retaining.

10) Install the 173-4063 Barrel Assembly to the shaft.

12) Insert the piston brake to the regular position.

13) Set 20 124-1561 Springs on the piston brake.

14) Put the 180-6769 Bearing on the shaft.

15) Check the position of the 2 175-7887 Dowels.

17) Put the head on the body then tighten the 8 8T-2393 Bolts.
18) Tighten the bolts to a torque of 240 +/- 40 Nm.
