Rear Suspension Frame - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Remove the rear axle stabilizer rod.

  2. Remove the rear drive shaft.

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death can result from improper lifting or blocking.

When a hoist or jack is used to lift any part or component, stand clear of the area. Be sure the hoist or jack has the correct capacity to lift a component. Install blocks or stands before performance of any work under a heavy component.

Approximate weights of the components are shown. Clean all surfaces where parts are to be installed.

  1. Remove bolt (1) and clip (2).

  2. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to each side of the rear of rear suspension frame (3).

  3. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to the front of the rear suspension frame .

  4. Disconnect hose assembly (4)

  5. Remove nut (5), washer (7), and bolt (6).

  6. Remove pin (8).

  7. Use two people to remove bracket (11). The weight of bracket (11) is approximately 24 kg (53 lb).

  8. Remove bolts (9) and bracket (11) from rear axle (10).

  9. Remove bolts (12) from rear axle (10).

  10. Use Tooling (A) to lower the rear suspension frame to the ground. The weight of the rear suspension frame is approximately 94 kg (207 lb). Lower and remove the rear suspension frame from the rear axle.

  11. Remove bolts (13) and clamp ring (14).

  12. Use Tooling (B) to remove bearing (15). Remove bearing (15).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install rear suspension frame (3) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten bolts (12) and (9) to a torque of 900 ± 100 N·m (664 ± 74 lb ft).
