A Loose Or Missing Plug Will Allow A Boost Pressure Leak That May Result In Decreased Performance

Usage:

ENGINES3406E (9WR) MARINE ENGINES

Problem:

The cylinder head group includes an 8T-6765 Plug. See the illustration. This plug may become loose and fall out during normal operation. This plug seals a hole in the bottom of the inlet air plenum in the cylinder head. If the plug is loose or missing, boost pressure will leak out of the hole. Decreased boost pressure may result in decreased performance. This may be especially noticeable as poor acceleration.

Solution:

When servicing these engines, be sure to check the 8T-6765 Plug is securely installed. If the plug is missing, the plug should be replaced.

This illustration shows the location of the 8T-6765 Plug in the bottom of the air plenum.
