Wiring Change For The Starter Motor Magnetic Switch Caterpillar

Wiring Change For The Starter Motor Magnetic Switch

Usage:

MARINE ENGINES3126B (9ZF, 3GS) MARINE ENGINES

Problem:

The Starter Motor Magnetic Switch (SMMS) is currently wired so that the starter motor will NOT crank if the 135-7893 Circuit Breaker is OPEN. The wire (Wire X) that provides battery power (B+) to the SMMS is connected to the alternator side of the circuit breaker. See Illustration 1.

Solution:

Relocate the wire (Wire X) that provides battery power (B+) to SMMS to the B+ side of the 135-7893 Circuit Breaker. See Illustration 2. This change will allow the engine to crank when the 135-7893 Circuit Breaker is OPEN or CLOSED.
