Usage:
Problem:
Some OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) use the PTO ramp up/down feature to control engine speed. Engine operating speed is set by means of a switch while the engine is not under load. Some operators however, are using the PTO ramp up/down switch to try to raise engine speed as engine speed drops below rated speed due to high power demand. This is an incorrect use of the ramp up/down feature. It causes the ECM (Electronic Control Module) to 'reset' desired speed (rated) to current engine speed. As a result engine speed will not return back to rated speed or higher as engine load decreases. The operator then falsely concludes the engine lacks power.
Solution:
Instruct operators how to correctly use the PTO ramp up/down feature. Setting engine speed by means of the ramp up/down switch must be done at no load only. Do not use this PTO mode to try to alter engine speed during engine operation.
