Air Pipe Between The Turbocharger Air Outlet And The Aftercooler Air Inlet Caterpillar

Air Pipe Between The Turbocharger Air Outlet And The Aftercooler Air Inlet

Usage:

ENGINES3126B (3GS1-519) MARINE ENGINES

Problem:

There have been some reports of the 164-5571 Air Pipe moving out of the turbocharger air outlet. This movement has exposed the outboard O-ring seal on the turbocharger end of the air pipe. There are two O-ring seals on each end of the air pipe.

NOTE: Even though the outboard O-ring seal is exposed, there has not been any report of boost leaking out of the air pipe at that joint.

Solution:

Caterpillar recommends replacing the 164-5571 Air Pipe with the new 173-1795 Air Pipe. The new air pipe has a design change that will help keep it in the correct position in the air outlet of the turbocharger.
