Usage:
Problem:
Some 150-8055 Left Hand De-Aerator Housings have been found to have a casting fins (restrictions to coolant flow) in the coolant passage that goes to the heat exchanger. This restriction could cause decreased coolant flow through the left cylinder head, the left turbocharger riser, and the left exhaust manifold. This could be seen as increased temperatures on the surface of the turbocharger riser and the left exhaust manifold. The de-aerator housings are part of the Sea Water Heat Exchanger Group. The illustration shows the location of the 150-8055 Left Hand De-Aerator Housing.
Solution:
Remove and inspect the 150-8055 Left Hand De-Aerator Housing if the following conditions are present:
- * The surface temperature of the exhaust manifolds adjacent to cylinders 1, 3, & 5 exceed 250°F at full load.
- * The loss of coolant from the cooling system expansion tank.
If a water flow restriction is found, attempt to remove the restriction. If the restriction can not be removed, the 150-8055 Left Hand De-Aerator Housing must be replaced.
NOTE: The casting fins (restrictions to coolant flow) have only been observed in the 150-8055 Left Hand De-Aerator Housing. To date, there have been no reports of casting fins (restrictions to coolant flow) in the 150-8056 Right Hand De-Aerator Housings.
This Illustration shows the location of the 150-8055 Left Hand De-Aerator Housing in the Sea Water Heat Exchanger Group.
