Problem:
A software problem has been identified in the EIS electronic control group. This software problem will shut down the engines with FALSE 318-01 and 319-01 Diagnostic Codes if the engine is very quiet and stable. These fault codes are generated for operating conditions with too little engine noise. The 318-01 and 319-01 codes were designed to protect the engine if there is a failure of the cable between the buffer box and the detonation sensor. This problem is believed to limited to the latest 142-7472 EIS Electronic Control Group in Gas Compression applications. However, this problem may occur in other applications.
Solution:
A new EIS Electronic Control Group is being released to eliminate the FALSE 318-01 and 319-01 Diagnostic Codes. In addition to software changes, new high temperature board material will be used to improve the reliability of the control. A program is being written to update the controls from those affected engines. Until this program is available, please contact:
