Problem:
There may be a casting defect in the HEUI manifold in the engine cylinder head group on the above engines ONLY. This casting defect may result in excessive oil leakage.
Solution:
If your dealership has received or is going to receive a Caterpillar Machine with a 3408E (99C3406 - 99C3633) Engine, or a 3408E (7PR525 - 7PR533) Industrial Engine, please contact one of the following people before putting into service:
Please make sure someone calls AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Have the engine serial number ready. You will be instructed as to whether a repair will be necessary. Some of the above engines have already been reworked. The reworked engines are stamped on the cylinder block with the letter "SN" adjacent to the Serial Number Plate.
