3406E Engines Equipped With Jacket Water Heaters Can Fail

ENGINES3406E (5DS1-UP, 1LW1-UP) ENGINES
Problem:
Jacket water heaters that are installed by the OEM's have been reported to be failing on the some of the 3406E (5DS, 1LW) Engines. This is due to the shape of the new 147-3428 Outlet Bonnet. An air pocket can form and expose a portion of the heater element. This exposure will allow the heater element to fail.
Solution:
New supplier part numbers for the jacket water heaters are now available to eliminate this problem. Contact you nearest OEM Truck Dealer for the new parts update.
