Modifying Former 2W8888 Rocker Arm Shaft For Use With New 8T7581 Rocker Arm Shaft Bolt{1102}

Three different rocker arm shafts and rocker arm shaft bolts have been used. The chart identifies the different rocker arm shafts and bolts. Both the "First" (1W2422) and "Second" (2W8888) design rocker arm shafts have been canceled and replaced by the current 7C2377 Rocker Arm Shaft.

It is not necessary to replace both the 4W9779 Bolts and 2W8888 Shaft, if the shaft is not damaged. The 2W8888 Shaft can be used with two new 8T7581 Bolts if the shaft is counterbored to a 16.5 mm (.65 in) diameter, 8.0 ± 1.0 mm (.31 ± .04 in) deep as shown in the illustration. If new 8T7581 Bolts are used to install an unmodified 2W8888 Shaft, the result could be inadequate lubrication supply for the rocker arms.
