Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

1. Install O-ring seal (6) to final drive and brake (1) .

2. Apply Tooling (C) to the threads of studs (7) prior to installing final drive and brake (1) to the axle housing.

3. Install Tooling (A) to final drive and brake (1) .

4. Attach suitable lifting chains and a hoist to Tooling (A). The weight of final drive and brake (1) is approximately 960 kg (2120 lb).

5. Install final drive and brake (1) to the axle housing.

6. Install 22 nuts (5). Install Tooling (B) and tighten nuts (5) to a torque of 1125 ± 100 N·m (830 ± 73 lb ft).

7. Connect two hose assemblies (3) and (4) to final drive and brake (1) .

8. Connect hose assembly (2) (if equipped) to final drive and brake (1) .

End By:

a. Install the axle shafts to the axle assembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Axle Shaft - Install".

b. Install the axle assembly to the machine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fixed Axle (Front) - Install" or Disassembly and Assembly, "Oscillating Axle (Rear) - Install".
