  1. Enter the operations area.

    ReferenceFor the procedure to enter the operations area, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Machine Isolating for Maintenance".

The desiccant cartridge is located in the LADAR sensor. The cartridge contains the desiccant that dries the internal components of the LADAR sensor.

The moisture indicator is located on the cartridge. The indicator should be checked at the end of each shift. If the color is blue, the system is dry. If the color is gray, the system contains moisture. The cartridge must be changed.

The state of the desiccant should be checked regularly and the cartridge replaced if necessary.

Note: The cartridge should be changed once per year even though the indicator remains blue.

    (1) Clear tube

    (2) Ridge

  1. Prepare the replacement cartridge in clear tube (1) but do not remove the cartridge.

  1. Unscrew the used cartridge with clear tube (1) and remove from the LADAR sensor.

    Note: The replacement cartridge tube has a ridge (2) which is inserted in cartridge slot (3) .

  1. Remove the replacement cartridge from clear tube (1) and insert in the LADAR sensor.

  1. Ensure that the replacement cartridge and rubber seal are seated correctly.

  1. Screw the replacement cartridge in with clear tube (1) .

  1. Tighten the replacement cartridge to a torque of 1.5 ± 0.2 N·m (13 ± 1.75 lb in).
