Checking 140M and 160M Transmission Oil Levels{3030, 3080, 3258} Caterpillar

Checking 140M and 160M Transmission Oil Levels{3030, 3080, 3258}

Usage:

140M B9D
Motor Grader:
140M (S/N: B9D1-UP; B9M1-UP; B9G1-UP; D9G1-UP)
160M (S/N: B9E1-UP; B9L1-UP; B9T1-UP; D9T1-UP)

Introduction

The problems that are identified below do not have any known permanent solutions. Until permanent solutions are known, use the solutions that are identified below.

Problem

The transmission and differential oil level in the 140M and 160M Motor Graders is very sensitive to overfilling. Overfilling can result in oil that is leaking from the breather.

Solution

Ensure that the oil levels are being checked under the proper machine conditions.

Reference Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Transmission and Differential Oil Level - Check"for your machine.

Note: The machine must be running at low idle and the oil must be at operating temperature.

If the oil levels are being checked properly and oil continues to leak from the breather, please contact the "Dealer Solution Network" (DSN) for further assistance.
