The pump has four sections:
- transmission charging section (2)
- transmission cooling and lubrication section (3)
- transmission scavenge section (4)
- rear brake cooling section (5)
The pump is driven by pump drive (1) .
The transmission charging section (2) gets oil from the transmission oil tank. The transmission charging section (2) sends oil to the transmission charging hydraulic filter. The oil is then sent to the transmission hydraulic control. The oil is used to activate transmission clutches. The oil is also used as signal oil that is sent from the lockup clutch solenoid valve to the torque converter lockup clutch and synchronizing valve.
The transmission lubrication section (3) gets oil from the transmission section of the hydraulic tank. The transmission lubrication section (3) sends the oil to the transmission lubrication hydraulic filter. The oil is then sent to the transmission oil cooler. The oil is then split and used for lubricating the transfer gears and the transmission.
The transmission scavenge section (4) is located on the drive end. This pump section takes oil from the bottom of the transmission case. The oil flows through a magnetic screen to transmission scavenge section (2). The oil is then returned to the transmission section of the hydraulic tank.
The rear brake cooling section (5) is on the cover end of the pump. The rear brake cooling section (5) pumps oil from the hydraulic oil tank. This pump section sends oil through the filter for the transmission oil cooler. The oil then flows to the rear brakes in order to be cooled. This also cools the oil in the hydraulic oil tank.
