950G Wheel Loader, 962G Wheel Loader and IT62G Integrated Toolcarrier Power Train Caterpillar

Calibration and Programming

Usage:

950G 2JS

General Information

The power train electronic control module (ECM) uses the main display module on the Caterpillar Monitoring System for showing diagnostic information to service personnel. Diagnostic information concerning the power train ECM is sent on the CAT Data Link to the Caterpillar Monitoring System. Service personnel must be familiar with the Caterpillar Monitoring System in order to troubleshoot the power train ECM.

The Caterpillar Monitoring System has several different modes of operation. For troubleshooting and calibrating the power train ECM, service personnel must place the Caterpillar Monitoring System in certain modes of operation.

Reference: For more information on the Caterpillar Monitoring System, refer to the Service Manual module Systems Operation, "Caterpillar Monitoring System" for the machine that is being serviced.

Reference: For more information on the Caterpillar Monitoring System, refer to the Service Manual module Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, SENR1394, "Caterpillar Monitoring System".

Reference: For more information on troubleshooting with the Caterpillar Monitoring System, refer to the Service Manual module Testing and Adjusting, "Using Caterpillar Monitoring System to Determine Service Codes" for the machine that is being serviced.

The 4C-8195 Control Service Tool allows service personnel to access service information. The service tool attaches to the four-pin connector. The connector is located in the compartment behind the fuse panel access cover in the right rear interior panel of the cab.

Note: Transmission Calibration Mode for the 950G Wheel Loader, 962G Wheel Loader and the IT62G Integrated Toolcarrier is mode 8.

Perform the steps that follow in order to access Transmission Calibration Mode (8) for the power train ECM:

  1. Connect the 4C-8195 Control Service Tool to the service connector.

  1. Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the ON position.

  1. Depress the "MODE" switch on the 4C-8195 Control Service Tool. The Caterpillar Monitoring System will scroll to different display modes in the display area while the "MODE" switch is depressed. Display mode 8 is used by the power train ECM. The "MODE" switch should be held until "-8-" is shown in the display area on the Caterpillar Monitoring System.

  1. Depress the "SCROLL" switch until the display area is in the desired submode. The submodes that are available are listed in table 1 that follows.
