Note: Always bring the machine to a complete stop before you change directions of the propel control lever.

Forward (1) - Push the lever away from the operator in order to move the compactor forward. In order to cause the machine to move faster, push the lever farther.

STOP (2) - Move the lever to the center STOP position in order to stop the machine.

Reverse (3) - Pull the lever toward the operator in order to move the machine in reverse. In order to cause the machine to move faster, pull the lever farther.

Tension Adjustment

Illustration 2g00741645

The following conditions must be met before you make any adjustments:

  • Park the machine on a level surface.

  • Engage the parking brake.

  • Turn the engine start switch key to the OFF position and remove the engine start switch key.

Use the following procedure in order to adjust the tension of the propel control lever:

  1. Turn the middle hex nut (1) clockwise in order to increase tension on the propel lever. Turn the hex nut (1) counterclockwise in order to decrease tension on the propel lever. There should be enough tension on the propel control lever in order to hold the propel control lever in place when the vibratory system is in operation.

Note: The first 30 units that were built have a knurled knob in place of the hex nut (1) .
