Start By:

  1. Remove the hoist cylinders. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hoist Cylinder - Remove".

  2. Remove the tailgate cylinder. See Disassembly and Assembly, "Tailgate Cylinder - Remove".

Personal injury or death can result from improper lifting or blocking.

When a hoist or jack is used to lift any part or component, stand clear of the area. Be sure the hoist or jack has the correct capacity to lift a component. Install blocks or stands before performance of any work under a heavy component.

Approximate weights of the components are shown. Clean all surfaces where parts are to be installed.

  1. Remove bolts (1), the nuts, and the washers .

  2. Disconnect the electrical connections for rear lights (2).

  3. Remove lights (2).

  4. Remove bolts (3), the nuts, and the washers .

  5. Attach Tooling (A) to dump body (4). Attach Tooling (B) and an appropriate hoist. Apply sufficient tension to the lifting slings in order to relieve the pressure on pin assemblies (5).

  6. Use two 3/4 - 10 NC forcing screws (6) in order to remove pin assembly (5).

    Note: If there are shims between the hoist pivot and the pivot bracket, note the location of the shims for assembly.

  7. Repeat Step 6 for the opposite side of the dump body.

  8. Remove dump body (4) from the machine. The weight of the dump body is 4918 kg (10842 lb).

  9. Remove Tooling (A) and Tooling (B) from the dump body.
