Differential Lock - Check

Usage:

554 1AM
Determine if the differential lock assembly is damaged before disassembling the axle.

Front End of Forwarder

(1) Drive shaft. (2) Brake cylinders.

  1. Lift the front axle so that the front wheels are not touching the ground. Place wheel chocks in front of the rear tires and behind the rear tires in order to ensure that the machine will not move.

    Brake Cylinder

  1. Prevent drive shaft (1) from turning. Manually disengage the parking brake by screwing in bolt (3) on brake cylinders (2).

  1. Turn one of the wheels on the front axle.

    When the differential lock is disengaged the wheels on the opposite side of the machine will turn in the opposite direction.

    When the differential lock is engaged neither wheel will turn.

    Note: A wheel may turn a short distance due to backlash.

    (1) Drive shaft. (2) Brake cylinders.

  1. Repeat Step 1 through Step 3 for the rear axle.
