Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


Note: Put identification on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Install a cap or a plug in all lines, hoses, or tubes that are disconnected in order to prevent fluid loss. The caps or the plugs will also prevent foreign material from entering the system.

  1. Open the access door. Pull the knob for the fuel supply valve all the way outward in order to close the valve and shut off the fuel supply.

  1. Remove six bolts (2) and engine access panel (1) from the right side of the machine.

  1. Disconnect fuel lines (4) and (5) from fuel transfer pump (3) .

  1. Remove bolts (6) and fuel transfer pump (3) from the fuel injection pump housing.

  1. Remove the O-ring seal from the fuel transfer pump.
