To enter the sub-menu of the programming variables, first move the toggle switch on the control panel to the right. This activates the programming mode. Then press "3" and "ENTER". The display screen is shown in Illustration 1.

Change a value by pressing the number for the variable. Press "ENTER". The cursor will move to the variable that was entered. Enter the new value and press "ENTER".
A brief explanation of each machine variable and diameter limit follows:
Machine Variables
(01) "Floating at Felling 1/0" - When "1" is entered for this variable the valve that controls the tilt function will move to the FLOAT position after the tree is cut for felling. The weight of the tree will cause the harvester head to tilt down. When "0" is entered for this variable the operator must press the "TILT - DOWN" key after cutting the tree for felling. "0" is the recommended setting. "0" gives the operator better control of the tree.
(02) "Start of Down Ramp" - This is the distance from the cutting zone when the harvester head starts the ramp function. This distance is 40 cm (15.75 inch) for all models of harvester heads.
(03) "Total Ramp" - This is the total distance of the ramp function.
Note: The distance of the log that is fed past the cutting zone is the "Total Ramp" minus the "Start of Down Ramp".
(04) "Distance Saw <-> L.K." - This is the distance from the saw bar to the center of the delimbing knives. This distance should never be less than 60 cm (23.622 inch). This distance should never be more than 70 cm (27.559 inch).
The distances that are listed below are for the harvester heads that are equipped with an automatic saw bar tensioner.
HH45 ... 104 cm (40.945 inch)
HH55 without cross caliper box ... 95 cm (37.402 inch)
HH55 with cross caliper box ... 107 cm (42.126 inch)
HH65 ... 107 cm (42.126 inch)
HH75 ... 137 cm (53.937 inch)
(05) "P.S. Type (25/50/100/200)" - This is the number of pulses per meter that is sent from the length sensor to the DASA. For all harvester heads, this value should be set to 100.
(07) "Autostart After Cut 1/0" - When "0" is entered for this variable, the operator must press the "START" key after the log is cut in order to begin feeding. When "1" is entered for this variable, the harvester head will automatically begin feeding after the log is manually cross cut or after the log is automatically cross cut in the cutting zone. When "2" is entered for this variable, the harvester head will automatically begin feeding after the log is automatically cross cut in the cutting zone. When "3" is entered for this variable, the harvester head will automatically begin feeding after the log is manually cross cut or after the log is automatically cross cut at any place on the log.
(08) "Rev. Length After Cut" - This is the distance of the log that is reversed after making a cut. Reversing allows the saw bar to return without interfering with the log.
(09) "Levers Type PVC=0 Monsum=1" - This value indicates the type of control levers that are used. For the levers that are shown in Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Measuring and Control System", enter "1" for "Monsum".
(10) "Species Rp. On 1/Off 0" - The DASA will stay on the last selected species of tree when "1" is entered for this variable. When "0" is entered for this variable the operator must select the species of tree before processing begins.
(11) "Color Mark With Sward" - This variable indicates the type of color marking system on the harvester head. Enter "0" if the color marking system paints the end of the log with spray nozzles on the holding arm. Enter "1" if the color marking system paints the end of the log with the saw bar.
(12) "Stopping Distance" - This is the distance from the cutting zone when the current is cut off to the solenoids of the feed rollers. This is the distance of rotation of the feed rollers when the current is cut off. 1 cm (.394 inch) is the recommended distance for all models of harvester heads.
(13) "Saw Wait" - This variable allows the operator to select automatic cutting or manual cutting. When "0" is entered for this value, manual cutting is active. The "CUT" key must be pressed in order to cut the log when the log is in the cutting zone. When "1" is entered for this value, automatic cutting is active. The log will automatically be cross cut when the log is in the cutting zone.
Diameter Limits
(01) "Min. Dia. Universal" - When this diameter is reached during processing, the DASA will beep. This allows the operator to sort the logs of different diameters.
(02) "Min. Dia. Limbing Knife" - If the tree reaches this diameter, the feed rollers will stop regardless of the cutting instructions. The "FEED FORWARD" key can be used to process more logs.
Note: The value for "Min. Dia. Limbing Knife" should be set to approximately 5 mm (.197 inch) more than the diameter that is measured by the DASA when the delimbing knives are fully closed. If the "Min. Dia. Limbing Knife" value is set below this value, the feed rollers will never stop rotating during the processing of a tree.
(03) "Min. Dia. Ramp" - This is the minimum diameter when the ramp function is in operation. If the diameter of the tree falls below this value during processing, the ramp function is turned off. Set this value as high as possible. If the tree is not easily delimbed by the harvester head, lower this value.
(04) "Tree Reg. Diameter" - When a new tree is being processed, this is the minimum diameter that is required by the DASA to register a new tree. This diameter is 250 mm (9.843 inch) for all models of harvester heads. Also, the DASA must measure a diameter that is smaller than this value after more than 1 m (3.3 ft) of the tree has been sent through the feed rollers.
